- Recent Poll
- A recent poll has suggested that planning the seating arrangement for a wedding is the most time consuming part, compared with just 25% for choosing a dress, and 5% on selecting rings.

The same poll showed that 75% of guests like to know where they are seated, and with whom, when they turn up to the wedding breakfast.
This shows that while table planning is still a very relevant part of the big day, it can be troublesome for the event planners to allocate seats confidently.
Why have table planning at all?
It is not possible to book a venue for the wedding breakfast without being asked about seating arrangements. With so many issues facing families in modern times, a hotel simply cannot run the risk of leaving anything to chance.
It falls to the bride and groom to work their way through the rules of etiquette while considering the position of their family members, to create a seating arrangement which satisfies all requirements and help the day run smoothly. A simple mistake such as placing two people together who have a difficult history can lead to problems on the day. There can be an expectation of tradition; it can hurt someone’s feelings if they expect to be seated at the top table, only to find themselves placed in a seat away from the newlyweds.
Table planning, then, becomes ever more important. The modern bride and groom have to establish how to keep their guests happy, while maintaining a positive atmosphere, not offending anyone, and abiding by the tradition that is expected of them. This is no easy task, in a culture where relationships are forged and broken every day.
